Hi All!

I am a layman and have got Ubuntu 9.1 desktop version and want to install it as a DNS server. Is it possible? I suppose yes, since what I've heard is that those services must be running in the OS which make it a Server. So, if I'm correct - can anybody guide me what are those services to make it a DNS server, where can I download them from, are those free softwares and what are the ways / methods to install / configure those services??

Thanks in advance for taking trouble!

You can install whatever you want.
sudo apt-get install bind9 Try looking up howto's for ubuntu bind9 on a search engine or go to google books and read the first couple chapters of oreilly's dns and bind.
