On my laptop, I accidentally held the Windows key and hit my side scroll edge on my pad and BINGO, instant zoom on the cursor!!!

And it works in screen shots, too. which I have trouble seeing. This is going to help me so much. Thanks for posting about it.

I map out most window management shortcuts to use the windows key. I mean, on Linux it's sitting there doing almost nothing, so may as well make use of it. Plus, that way it's also harder to make conflicting shortcuts.

Omg, that's a Mac feature I always wanted in Ubuntu! How could I ever have missed it?

+1!

They don't call it 'the super key' for nothing.
It does other stuff too. :)
Super key+r I believe also does something, just try it out.

Nowt on my box!!!!

It really took me a good few seconds to realize what you meant by 'nowt'...

Anyway, I could've had the combo wrong, try different combo's, maybe you'll find something fun.

The windows key does everything on my netbook, from launching most of the applications I use, to resizing windows, logging out, opening menus. :D
It doesn't let me zoom though. ^^

Super + M or Super + N are the best

Just don't hold them down...

That is ******* awesome. I never knew that.

I wonder why it doesn't work on my desktop machine though.

It's great for screencasts and making non-fullscreen videos fullscreen.

Another good way of using the zoom feature, is to hold down the super key and drag a box with the right mouse button. Then it zooms into that specific area!

What a sharp contrast from the Arch forums, where everyone would be telling you how they mapped the super key to be the mod key on their tiling window manager.

Xmonad.
