View Full Version : [ubuntu] restore system fresh state by using hidden parition

hello...
i am new in ubuntu .now i am using 9.10.

my pc has got some problem pannel is not working .could not add icon to pannel and so on..

it is wipro's branded pc .i came to know that it has got a extra partition i mean a hidden partition for restore.


how can i restore to the fresh state by using this partition.

pls help me...

locate the PAUSE button on your keyboard. reboot your computer and press the PAUSE button on the POST screen. if you see the Ubuntu or Windows Logo then you've gone too far and have to reboot again. on the POST screen it gives you information like how fast your cpu is, how much ram you have, and the special keys to enter the bios, change bootup options, and system-restore if your computer provides this feature.

instead of doing a system restore, i recommend doing a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04.

And you have to hope you don't need a recovery CD or 2 to start - I had a laptop and a desktop that both had recovery partitions, but required that I make recovery CD's in order to use that partition.
