Dear Ubunteros, I'm afraid somebody posted this problem before I do, and I'm so sorry to bring this issue again, I posted the same problem before in another thread but it was among many other issues but I didn't get an answer for this specific problem

I have the same problem but I figured it wasn't hurting anything so I kinda left it alone. After searching google, I found that some say it's supposed to be like that and others disagree. I haven't tested this in 10.04 but it worked in 9.10

I bet your volume and backlight notifcations are in the upper right corner. The lower position is to prevent overwriting of those notifcations. The positions are hardcoded, but you can modify the source code and recompile. It's a pain, but that is how M.S. wanted it coded.
