I plan to only use my Presario V2000 for basic websurfing and media playing. Have an iMac and my wifes win7 laptop to use for all other tasks.

Is it any better or worse to put UNE on my laptop that can easily handle the desktop edition?

For netbooks better use UNE or Xubuntu as it uses less roesources, imho...

Its not a netbook. Thats my question. Its a laptop with a AMD turion 64 1.8ghz chip and 2 gb ram. 256mb Radeon Mobile graphics card. Is there any benefit if I'm really only gonna be using it for basic basic tasks?

I'd install Ubuntu 32-bit version

So there really wouldn't be any benefit for speed, performance, and battery life using UNE over the full edition?

Netbook remix was developed to optimize for the little bitty screens on the netbooks. If you have large screen with lots of pixels there is no reason to go to the netbooks install,

UNE's main benefit is its "launcher" interface, which is visually optimized for small screens. It uses the same kernel and applications as "regular" Ubuntu, and therefore offers no speed, performance, or battery life advantages that I am aware of.
