Hello!
I can not wait to upgrade to 10.04 from 9.10. I want to do upgrade not a fresh install, because I have tons of applications installed and do not want to install them again. Some applications are installed manually too (Matlab, Mathematica etc).

I need some help to back up the OS. My home is in a separate partition. So I am good there.

I tried to make a back up of the OS (with out any user data) by remastersys, but the OS is too large for that.

I am using 64 bit machine. partimage is not in the rep.

Anyway, I am definitely going to do the switch. So wish me good luck.

Hey take heart; it's quite easy! I've upgraded continuously (for much the same reasons) from Gutsy onwards, and just finished upgrading to Lucid yesterday; everything went fine!

However, I now decided I want to go 64-bit on my main computer; so today I did a fresh reinstall; the first since Oct 2007.

Well, clonezilla would be great for this situation.
But I might be too late. Hope it will go well.
