View Full Version : [ubuntu] Upgrade and Grub Error; User Error

I see a few other posts on this subject. I have only been using Ubuntu for about a week now and love it. So, I thought I would do the upgrade to 10.04 last night.

I did the ultimate mistake and changed something I was not sure about. When I got to the Keep existing Grub setting's I chose to load the new ones rather than keep the current file set.

Not paying attention to the partitions on my disks I did not write them down, and have no idea what they are. I had partitioned the disk into 3 areas, system, swap and files.

I now get the Grub Error;

the symbol 'grub_put_' not found
grub rescue>

I have 2 Sata hard-drives, 1 with XP SP2 and the other with the Ubuntu installed. I am downloading the full 10.04 iso file now. Will booting off the cd let me install the 10.04 as a new install and correct all of this? I do not care about saving any files on the Ubuntu system as there are really none there.

Any help or guidance?

Thanks!
