Yes, Ubuntu is quickly turning into a chocolate tea pot for me. As much as I'm loving the OS, I just seem to spend more time fluting around with the operating system then I do actuall using it.

And yes the new release 10.4 is brilliant, well done developers!!, its lighting fast, and the reboot speeds are second to none, and come in very handy when you have to reboot your laptop every 15 minutes because the wlan card hangs..

And I've had enough, I'm on the brink of falling of the edge of the Linux cliff, and Windows 7 is waiting there in the wind to catch me, its not a jump I want to make but I'm been pushed.

I need help,

I have a IBM X60S laptop with the dreaded Intel 3945ABG wireless card and using Ubuntu 10.4 and I have Belkin router. The wifi drops when heavy traffic flows across it. For example watching a video off a server over wifi. No matter what I do setting wise to the router or the laptop, it drops. I then reboot, or drop the wlan card and bring it back up and it restores the connection. When doing plain old surfing of the web and its fine, play a video or copy files over wifi and its game over after 10 minutes or after about 120mb. I know there is nothing wrong with the laptop or router as it all works fine under windows, so it must be drivers, I've tried using ndiswrapper, but I couldn't get the card on line for love or money and ended up reinstalling (again)

So as a last ditch effort I'm turning to the forums for help, HELP, don't let me go over the cliff......

Yours in Ubuntu
