A few days ago I figured out how to get Descent II to run in linux using d2x-rebirth. I was so excited, I spent 3 hours digging through old Power Mac software to find the first Descent, which I thought I would never be able to play again, as my Power Mac no longer has a working keyboard or mouse (it's like 8 years old). So I fired up Ubuntu, popped in the CD, and... nothing. A window pops up asking if I want to play the audio tracks or browse the folders. I chose to browse the folders, but nothing comes up. When I open Places > Computer, and go to the CD drive, sound juicer pops up and has nothing in it. When I choose CD Drive from the sidebar, it says:
"cdda:///dev/hdc" is not a valid location."
Check your spelling and try again.
So I am at a loss. The CD is in fine condition (better than my windows Descent II CD, which has tons of scratches and still works fine in linux). Does Ubuntu not read Mac formatted CDs? Or does it have issues with cds that have both tracks AND data on them?
So just to recap, Ubuntu will not read my Mac formatted Descent I cd. It may be an issue that it has data and music on it, or it may be that ubuntu does not read mac formatted CDs. Or it could be something I am missing entirely. Please, can someone help me with this?
