Hi everyone,

I am running Ubuntu 9.10, and I have a 1.5TB Seagate external hard drive connected via USB. Previously I never had problems with the drive being always connected to the computer. One of the characteristics is that it will "spin down" after about 15 minutes of inactivity.

Ever since I upgraded to 9.10 (I was previously running 9.04) I can see the files right away, but after the spin down I cannot get it to spin up again. I can see the folders on the base of the tree, but I cannot see anything that was not loaded since last time I accessed it.

What I have been doing is unmounting the drive, pulling the plug, and replugging it in and I start again.

Does anyone have any tips? Thank you very much!

I upgraded to 10.04 and all is well again...whatever the problem was I don't really know.

But 10.04 is pretty spiffy!
