I'm looking to move away from Media Center and try building a decent AMD system based on an Amd Athlon II 250 processor.

I would like a recommendation for a motherboard that works out of the box with Mythbuntu and has integrated audio & vidio that has audio over the HDMI cable.

I only record OTA hd broadcasts* with this unit. The current box is an old AMD64 3800, ati 9600 pro gpu, and an HVR1600 but recently one of the ram sticks failed so its time to begin planning a replacement.

Thank you.

* Soaps for the wife. LOL - boy was I in trouble when she realized she was missing 9. Thank you Youtube for the save! :)

I have an ASRock K10N78 in a fe/be combo that works pretty well with an AMD 240:

It has lots of usb and sata connections and hdmi output (with audio according to manuf's website) as well as vga. The 8200 handles any content from 1080p on down extremely well too (with vdpau).

I have experienced only two problems with this board. I can't get suspend or hibernate to work even with the latest bios. I haven't really put too much effort into this though. Also, rarely, some usb ports will stop working with a "task blocked for 120 seconds" error in dmesg. A reboot always fixes the problem, but it seems this might be a kernel issue and not hardware related. Finally, the board isn't full sized, so it is kinda flimsy but this shouldn't be an issue if you don't plan on switching components out all the time.

ATX or MicroATX?

ATX:

MicroATX

Both have SATA3, USB3 and Radion4290 Video chips.. That should futureproof things for a few years.

Ati plays nice with Myth now?
My last attempt to get an ati card working under Myth was horrible and I never did fully succeed with getting it working right. I got frustrated and just gave up and loaded media center.

The HVR1600 did work right, the remote didnt work, the ati video didnt work right. The usb tuner didnt work.... thats why I'm looking for a motherboard that just works, i'm tired of fighting with it.

That Nforce board looks interesting. I'm going to see if I can find a micro-atx variant. Sorry I should have mentioned that. I need mATX to fit in the modded DVD player case I made out of first gen DVD player, its pretty large. lots of room, and keeps nice and cool.

Thank you both for your input!!
