I'm trying to install a stripped down version of Windows specifically for gaming and I need nLite (really cannot be bothered with the msfn tut). So far no luck with wine even with the .Net patch on their site. Does anyone know any alternative to nLite that can be ran under linux? Thanks.

Doesn't "winecfg" do all that stuff?

Have you used nLite to create a bootable Windows installation disc?

Well I did use it once before ditching windows and install Ubuntu but nlite somehow messed messed up the disc and now I have a broken InstallShield. The original disc also doesn't work because somehow it doesn't see my FAT partitions and complain about having nowhere to put files.

So is there any alternatives to nlite that can be run under Linux?

I would like to also know, if there are some *nix tools installable on Ubuntu like nLite, to make custom WinXP boots/installation media.
If you know some location (url) or tutorials how this could be done, plese let me know, or PM me.

You could try installing VirtualBox then installing your full version of XP as a virtual machine in VirtualBox then try installin nlite to that to make your re conf disk.

good luck
