...animal crossing, harvest moon, or battlezone? I enjoy all of these games. I have searched the forums, and have yet to find a native, free, open-source look-alike to these. Any reccomendations will be appreciated.

I think bzflag is similar to battlezone.

Man I would completely love anything at all like Animal Crossing for Linux. That'd be great. I'm tired of all these super-tacky intense, gritty, dark, stressful games about smashing demon's heads or infiltrating governent complexes.

Just let me dig up some fossils and plant some flowers, and write letters to a chicken.

Please. I mean seriously life is so stressful. The last thing I need is for my form of entertainment to stress me out additionally.

How about anything like Fire Emblem? I tried Wesnoth, and it was okay, but are there any others? Or anything like armor core?

I don't think there's a gamecube emulator yet, but zsnes will play super nintendo games, and there are a lot of others. I've been playing Chrono Trigger (http://www.rom-world.com/file.php?id=25570) lately :). Note that it's only legal to download the rom if you own the game.

Gawd I wish BZFlag was like Battlezone (I presume we're talking about the wondeful 1997 version (http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/battlezone/review.html)). I've spent ages trying to get the silly game to work in Wine (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=195), but it doesn't and the servers have ben pretty much deaded for years :(

There are no native Star Wars games, but KotOR and KotOR 2 both work great in Wine, I play them all the time. According to Wine's AppDB, Battlefront also works in Wine, but I've never tried it.

I wish there was a good native Relaxing RPG kind of thing. Maybe less, ACTION ALL THE TIME ACTION NOW!!!!!! and more, you know, RPing.:lolflag: Maybe I'll find a use for my meager moddling skills or something. I'd love to help w/ development on something like that in any way I can.

if you don't care about Open Source but just want to play games check out
Quake III, Doom 3, Neverwinter nights, secondlife, and unreal tournament. I'm sure there are others that i missed. Some of these you have do download a patch form their website and copy files off your "windows" copy. That is how Never winter nights worked, I have not gotten in work unger ubunto yet but it did work with Suse. but i do have second life working, and will star working on NWN this week.
