I am about to set up a 5 computer network, and I would like to give each computer a name.

The names for 2 of the computers are; (source's in brackets)
Hal - desktop that runs Hardy (2001)
Deep Thought - Advent laptop dual boot win 7 / Karmic (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy)

As you can see I have based the names on computers from science fiction, so please suggest names for the other computers (note; not robots eg. Marvin, R2D2, Vincent, etc.).

My other computers are;
Desktop - may use Mint,
Desktop - old architecture, may use Xubuntu
Toshiba laptop, needs a simple repair - win XP; can not be upgraded to Linux!

(can you also quote the source)

I am waiting for an item to come from Hong Kong to get these computers running, but the volcano in Iceland is preventing it's dispatch :(

Also, does anyone know the name of ENCOM's computer from TRON? You know, the one that used MCP as an OS.

The ENCOM 511 is the name of the supercomputer that is home to the Master Control Program. While the actual computer and the name, "ENCOM 511" don't actually appear in the movie Tron, it was mentioned in one of the many trailers for the movie. Over an ambient synthesizer sound, the narrator in the trailer introduces the 511 as the camera moves towards the 511.

Pick a TV show, use the name of the characters for your computer names.

I use character names from Futurama for my computers/laptops. This one is called Farnsworth.

I've long had a habit of calling my main computers I've built with black cases, Carpathia, and computers I've built with white cases, Corinthia followed by some suffix of relevance.

Other names I've used or am using:

Mobius
Necro
Insomniac
scarface
frankenstein
Sindel
Vox
Dobro

That was the SSID of my wireless network for a while - just so it would say "TheMatrix - successfully connected" :p

Mine are named after Star Wars planets, I find there's plenty.

I can't think of any computers though...
