Okay. I have spent the last week trying to install Ubuntu NBR (Netbook Remix) onto my MacBook3,1. I tried lots of ways, and the best way for me is to use Boot Camp to create the partition. I can boot up into Ubuntu and everything, but many things are amiss.

1. My wireless will not work. I have tried going into the network thing under System -> Administration but nothing is there.
2. When I try the CD of Ubuntu that I made without installing it, everything works fine (besides the track pad). Internet works and it tells me that I have drivers working specifically because none of the preferred drivers were available or something like that.

Please help me with this. I really see the potential of Ubuntu NBR on my MacBook.

ALSO, I HAVE VISITED THIS LINK: http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php
Many forums say I need that driver to install it on Ubuntu, but how do I do this?

Thank you for your time. I really appreciate this as I have spent sooo many hours trying to make this work.

The driver should be available under (you have to be connected to internet when you do this):

System->Administration->Hardware Drivers

Its pretty much just to click on it and choose activate (and when you're there, go ahead and activate the graphics driver as well, it will bring you some nice desktop effects).

Thank you for the tip, but I have already tried that. I got connected to the internet via ethernet cable to router. When I tried this, nothing appeared. I have switched over to ubuntu desktop b/c the system requirements said that this would work with my mac! Apparently not! It has the same problems as the NBR. Please, someone please help me. It stinks every time I have to start over, because I have to reformat my hard drive into one partition, then restore my system from a backup, which takes many hours total. If there is a guide, please provide the link. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I actually finally figured it out... don't even want to talk about how I did it haha.. wayy too much. But thanks for your quick responses. Also, my update manager won't work and gives this error: W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net intrepid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 3F2A5EE4B796B6FE . Anyway, I'll post another thread on that.

Way to fix. Use ethernet cable to get internet. Update via update manager. Then go to Hardware... Activate!!
