View Full Version : [PPC] Failed authorisation with Live 9.10 on Mac G4

Hi all,

I have just burned 9.10 to disc, and it loads up to a login screen but won't let me use automatic login or other, it says authorization failed or the like?

Any ideas? It is a Mac G4 AGP Dual processor (450mh) with around 800mb of ram and a ATI 9200 Mac edition PCI card (as I could not get Ubuntu to work with the older cards)

Cheers

Sounds like a bad CD to me. Have you checked it for defects?

I didn't check the CD, I used Infra recorder to overburn and it didn't state any problems, though after downloading Infra recorder my W7 PC had nothing on it's desktop when I booted up this morning.

A system restore to before I downloaded Infra recorder sorted that, but I don't trust Infra recorder on W7 now.

Guess I may try loading it onto a DVD instead? Unless there is a decent program which allows overburning on a W7 64 platform?

Currently the Mac has Ubuntu 8.04 on it, with about 342 updates recommended. Not running too well, and I had to use a Mac edition PCI card to get it running as Ubuntu would not give me resolution over 800+ with the stock AGP card.

Well the above worked.

Sadly though getting a machine to run for free is proving not as easy as expected.

I may have to use a new old stock 20gb drive as the old Quantum 27gb is going like a bag of nails.

I suspect the memory needs replaced, it's all odd sticks totalling 800mb odd but seems so-so, and I only have some aside which was originally intended for ebay, two mint 512mb kits.

Graphics is an issue, the old AGP Rage card is not giving me resolution above 800+ so I have fitted a card I wanted to sell on ebay, my new in box Mac Edition ATI Radeon 9200 PCI card, as this works out the box with a 1600+1050 resolution.

DVD dive is fine for loading an OS, but Ubuntu is not recognising any CD's or DVD's I put in, nor is the drawer working properly as it just opens and closes quickly when I press open.

So I may need a new DVD drive?

A couple of other niggles, guess that's what happens with old Macs taken out of storage.
