View Full Version : [ubuntu] How to enable icon click effect in compiz?

April 14th, 2010, 03:05 PM
On a fresh install of ubuntu with compiz running, I notice that
clicking on any icon on the top panel, like firefox or help, there is a nice zooming effect of the icon (like in OS X). But after installing ccsm and customizing the effects, this particular effect has disappeared. Anyone know how to re-enable it with ccsm or any other way ?
Would there also be a way to extend this , so that on double clicking any icon (on the desktop or in any folder) one gets the same animation ?

The default open animation is glide2.
ccsm > effects > animations > open animation.

Edit:Just reread, I see you mean the icon effect.

As far as I now that effect is actually handled by Gnome-panel, so I don't think there is any way to make the same thing happen in other programs...

(this is based on the fact that the effect is enabled/disabled by toggling the apps/panel/global/enable_animations -key in gconf, so it's not any Compiz plugin..)

Pity that its not a compiz thing. Any such compiz plugin available or in the pipeline ?
