I just checked my GPU temp and I'm at 65 degrees Celsius right now. I'm pretty much idling (I just have Firefox and Pidgin running, but that certainly shouldn't make a difference); what's going on? Could this be a problem with the card? Could it be dust? Do I just need to turn up my case fans? I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help.

65C is warm, but not that bad. My 8600GT is idling @ 61C. Mind you, it is passive cooled, so I would expect a fan cooled card to run cooler....then again, the 8800GTX is clocked pretty high.....

Cleaning the dust off the card, and the fan blades should drop your temprature if you are worried about it.

*Edit- 65C really needs to be compared to your current ambient temprature- if you are in 45C heat, 65C is pretty good.
