not sure if this is the right forum .. but here it is.
so i have a amd athlon 64 x2 Dual core processor .... dont think its helpful but just in case .

well my computer was fast with windows ... when i switched over to ubuntu it wasnt so much anymore.. just recently i added the systme monitor on my panel and saw that it can be changed to its normally at 1GHz and can go up to 3 GHz ... but it never does.. so when i change it manually its super fast and very nice ... however my question would be ... will that kill my processor since it s always at 3GHGz... ?? i put it back to "on Demand" but would like to know if i can put it back on top????

anyhelp would be greatly appreciated... thank You.

It should step up on its own as demand increases. All it will do if you turn it up is use more energy as far as I know, so it should be safe to turn it up.
