Hi, All

I decided to take a shot and post this question to the hardware forum, as it seems like my particular DVB-T Stick used to not be supported (but is supposed to work out the box in 9.10). I'd like to ask you guys to please go and have a look at the following thread: Mythbuntu 9.10 w/ Nextek USB DVB-T Stick (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1445439&page=2) over on the Mythbuntu forum. I think you can probably skip all the stuff that came before, and just start at post #13.

Basically, I'm trying to get an AF9015 DVB-T tuner working.

Can anybody please go read the above thread, and offer up any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks
Grakul

I've had some more thoughts about this. I think it has something to do with my kernel version. I downloaded Mythbuntu 9.10 before February 2010, but from what I can see on Google, the "fix" first came in February 2010, so perhaps I need to update my kernel. But "Search for Updates" shows no new updates.

Can anyone tell me what kernel version I need to get, how I go about getting it, and whether it will work? (i.e. do I rather have to re-download Mythbuntu and install from scratch with the latest download?)

I also think I would get more views on this thread if I changed the topic to something like "Mythbuntu 9.10 AF9015 Tuner ID:179 not supported". Does anyone know how to do that?

I subscribed to auto-build and did an upgrade (Told it I was only interested in 0.22, so I take it that means it's only giving me stuff from the 0.22-fixes source?). No luck, though. Exactly the same errors.

/me does a little dance

I got it working! I got it working!

I followed the instructions by tomerzz on the AF9015 thread:

try the following (all info gathered from this thread...)

hg clone -r 0f41fd7df85d http://linuxtv.org/hg/~anttip/af9015/

Firmware:
> wget http://jusst.de/manu/fw/AFA/dvb-usb-af9015.fw_a-link>
sudo mv dvb-usb-af9015.fw_a-link /lib/firmware/dvb-usb-af9015.fw

cd af9015

copy the patch file from here
http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-media@vger.kernel.org/msg16117.html
and save it to patch.txt

patch -p1 <patch.txt

disable the firedtv driver by modifying the./v4l/.config file and changing '=m' to '=n' on the firedtv line.
and then..
make
sudo make install

My DVB Stick is detected in mythtv-backend, and I now have a /dev/dvb/ folder!

I can't get it to lock onto any channels currently, but that's a topic for another thread (which I'll start if I don't come right).

When I get some time, I'll perhaps write a blog entry about this.

Thanks to everyone to tried to help!

Cheers
