I know that this is a really long shot, but has anyone got the (very) old Discworld II working under Wine?

Gotten through the intro, but then it freaks, used wine, not tried new wine though.

I've tried the latest version of Wine (0.9.9) and still no luck. It installs fine, but won't run at all. Is there no way to run this game in the 21st Century?!

As far as I remember, Discworld 2 is a DOS game. Why don't you use the full DOS emulator dosbox instead? It's available in Synaptic.

Discworld 1 was a DOS game. DW 2 was win 9x-only IIRC.

Just to finish this thread off, I was just playing with DOSBox to try to get some other games to work and it turns out that Discworld II does, in fact, run under DOS (and therefore DOSBox). Problem solved (and sorry to waste your time talking about Wine etc.)!
