View Full Version : [SOLVED] Some problems with Oxygen 61 - MIDI

Hi, I have a brand new Oxygen 61 Blue (I haven't read the manual properly, though I did do some reading; I have no time) and here are the problems I'm facing:
The numbers on the screen oscillate constantly and when I assign a knob or fader in LMMS (which is the only software I tried it on) this causes a constant movement on the knobs/faders on LMMS. Also when I move a fader/knob on the physical keyboard it moves the relative one in the software but along with others. Some latency also, specially with knobs.

I'm also having problems with 4 keys which I have to press harder to make sound in zynaddsubfx.

I think I'm going back to the store because of the 4 keys thing but the oscillation seems to be some kind of software configuration.

Thank you in advance

Hi maghoxfr! We've talking for a while on your latest thread about the Alesis mixer.

I just stumbled into this thread and was wondering: Did you solve the issue? Does the Oxygen 61 works in Linux without problems? I was considering to buy one of these later on, or a Behringer UMX610, and your feedback would be truly helpful.

Thanks.

Hi, it works perfectly. I use it with Qsynth to play soundfonts and i use synths like Phasex and Yoshimi. I think it was a problem with the keyboard (besides the 4 notes not working was awful) they gave a new one and I have no problems. I have to see how to midi map in qtractor but I'm having very little time.

OK, thanks for the info. At least, by your experience, now I know this one works great on Linux.

The other one I was looking at is the Behringer UMX610, but I'm not sure it works as good as the Oxygen 61 on Linux.

Thanks for your help.

I'll tell you a couple more things. It was great for me that it worked out of the box, just plug it and you'll se "Oxygen 61" in jack. Big relief for a non expert guy like me, no terminal whatsoever needed. Another great thing I was kind of worried about is that it has no latency at all (I mean noticeable, it must have but very few mili seconds).

The keyboard is not designed for live performances, unless they are very quiet ones. The faders and keys are delicate (the knobs are fine), not very prone to break, but they have to be handled with some care. The wheels are plastic, not rubber, they're fine but feels cheap. The keys are very light.

I wanted the Axiom 61 but couldn't afford it, if you can I'd recommend that one, even though I didn't test it in ubuntu, I tried it on the store and it felt great. I'd stay away from behringer when comming to midi-keyboards, I think M-Audio is superior. Just a comment, I talked to a coule of M-Audio users that claimed their customer support on their website is dead, I never needed to use it, but it appears to not be working.

I have yet many things to learn, as for "midi channels", "program numbers", "midi banks" and so on, but it has a lot of options, I think it's a great tool, and considering its price you get a lot for what you pay for.

if you have any more question, please don't even hesitate to write (I bothered many people to get answers and make a sure buy, without their suggestions, advice and tips I would have have a very though time deciding).
