Just read that there is (or going to be) a mobile app for Ubuntu One For mobiles for contact syncing.
Any one tried it?

There's an iPhone app released already. (I don't have an iPhone).
But there might be some beta apps here:
https://edge.one.ubuntu.com/phones/
But I keep getting "504 Gateway time out " message so don't know what other phones you can use to sync contacts...

Sorry about the timeouts. We are overwhelmed with users at the moment, and the servers are angry at us.
We are working hard to solve these issues, so please check back tomorrow.
In part, we launched this initial alpha to understand the capacity needed to scale for the Lucid release, so while this is unfortunate, it's also useful, so thank you for testing!

I was happy to see all the phones that were listed as supported. This is going to be a great feature. Keep up the good work!

I may simply be a bit thick, but how exactly do you enable the phone sync feature for the iPhone app? I have the app but it doesn't connect. I'm told you need to activate a 30-day trial or something in order to test it out?

since it's not in an official public alpha test at the moment you won't be able to enable your sync.
we'll have to wait for a couple of weeks for the alpha to go public and then anyone can register to sync their contacts.

contact sync worked great for me, using the blackberry client on a bold 9000. I just sync'd contacts, since notes didn't work and I didn't try calendar or task sync yet.

Its working great on my iPhone. still messing around with it atm.
*Edit* I noticed it does create a contact on the phone called "No Name" This contact has no information tied to it. Its just a blank contact.

Creating accounts is back up!
The instructions are up at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/PhoneSync/
if you know what you're doing, just go to create an account at: https://one.ubuntu.com/phones/

That's probably an artifact of something that used to be there, the "me" contact.
Some people had it created, but once you delete it, it's gone forever. Let me know if it doesn't.

Hi
I have used Mobile Phone sync with Funambol for the past 6 months with great reliable results.
I have today changed my settings across to the new UbuntuOne settings as instructed and the first sync from my mobile to Ubuntu One contacts went well.
However now when it comes to do a further sync it no longer sync's, and saying try again later.
Iam currently using a HTC Blackstone phone.
Is this issue iam seeing related to the servers being busy at the moment then. It just seemed odd how it synced first time, but then not afterwards.
Thanks
Andy

Sorry, just one more further question...
Can we sync Calendar contacts from my phone using the Ubuntn One phone sync, or is this currently not available?
Thanks again
Andy

I deleted it after I noticed it and it has yet to come back. I just figured it was a blank template type thing on the server and was transfered to my phone, but i figured i would say some thing in the off chance it was some thing more.
So far its a great app, and it works really well.
