So who here has one of those new-fangled >=Android 2.0 devices (like the Nexus One or Motorola DROID)? I am looking for a bit of help...

I have developed an Android app that changes a few settings on the device to optimize battery life for when it is dying. The thing is, I have an HTC Magic with the lowly Android 1.6 on it and I need to test some functionality for higher SDKs.

I know the emulator that comes with the Android SDK scales to Android 2.0.1. But with it, I have experienced some deviation in effect from my device (e.g. when the emulator is set to 1.6, it acts differently than my phone).

So here's my question: Can you install this app on your Nexus One or DROID and hit that "Lower Brightness" button (screenshot below). Does it work? And maybe try it with auto-brightness turned off on your device.

If anyone does this, he/she will be one of my heroes and earn him-/herself a spot on my developer page about the app (will be here: www.powermitedev.wordpress.com (http://powermitedev.wordpress.com/)) or maybe even something *more* special :).

You can download the app here: Save My Phone! (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1634015/software/savemyphone.apk)

Believe it or not I actually have 2 Nexus ones.
I bought one when they were released and then a few weeks later
I found out from Google I qualified for a free one as an android developer.

Anyway, I installed your app and the lower brightness button works.
I'm running Cyanogen's 5.X ROM

My email is in the QR Code there.

I have a question about the advertising you are using if you would be so kind as to email me.

Happy to help with 2.1 development.

Just tried the app. Looks cool :)

If you're open to recommendations, I have some comments regarding the UI.

Maybe, you can change the background into something plain. A plain black background would look much more professional and is easy to do.

Please also fix the landscape mode. :)

Here's a wireframe if you want http://j.imagehost.org/t/0703/save_my_phone.jpg (http://j.imagehost.org/view/0703/save_my_phone)

Always open to recommendations!! I'm liking the layout and the "Desperate?" and other text "prompt". But a plain background seems so... plain :P. However, I'm not happy with the fact that the background graphic is mostly hidden... I'm going to think on that, but your layout/other ideas will definitely be influencing the next release.

Ohh. You're probably coming from a creative side. I'm a UX/Usability professional so that's how I see things. hehe
