View Full Version : Ran apt-get dist-upgrade ... how do I go back

I just ran 'apt-get dist-upgrade' on my Breezy Badger system pointing it to

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main universe restricted multiverse

in /etc/apt/sources.list. I have a sata hard drive that is my primary hard drive. I use 20 Gigs of this drive for my main system and have lvm setup on the rest of the drive and another one. After the update I am getting the following error message on bootup:

ALERT! /dev/sda1 does not exist, dropping to a shell

and I get a few basic tools. Why is it not seeing my sata drive? Does it have support in the kernel?

At this point I am wondering if I wouldn't be better off rolling back to a different kernel or trying to go back to Breezy? Any ideas, what is my options at this point? I would rather try to learn something and salvage this instead of just a reinstall. Thanks for any help
