Help!
I recently installed ubuntu studio 9.10 amd64 on my MBP 5,3
I need an internet connection for updates and to customise my system etc
I tried to connect with a wired connection but for some reason I could not configure the ethernet interface.
I tried to install the broadcom bcmwl-kernel-source driver by downloading it on another computer and then using a usb stick to transfer it. I had to go through installing several dependencies including dkms and linux-headers-generic. When I finally succeeded the driver showed up in Hardware privers as proprietry but was inactive. Whenever I try to active it I hit 'Activat' I authenticate and the nothing happens. It remains inactive.
The wired connection is not readily available to me so it would be great if it was possible to solve this either via a usb or cd.

Any help or reports of similar experience much appreciated.
