ok I am trying to get cod 5 running on my computer. i installed it with wine all went well. but when i go to play it it says please insert the correct dvd. it is a one dvd set so i know im using the right one.
I have wine set on xp if that makes a difference. and I'm using ubuntu 9.10.

i have also tried playonlinux and get the same exact problem.

ok i got it to launch i installed the no dvd patch.

when i go to launch it i get this

Error during initialization:
Video card or driver doesn't support enough textures for the DirectX 9 code path.

is this a error with wine/ubuntu? or just my need to get a better video card then my 512mb 8400gs. i know it is not a gaming card. but i would have thought it would at least launch the game.

You have to configure your settings on the nvidia driver. Go to System/administration/nvidia x server settings. [Which is on the top left of your screen]
Configure your settings to high on all of them.

But you might need to have administrator on.

Then try your game. :)

Wine sometimes freaks out during DX9 stuff too - nobody said it was perfect.
