Hey, I have an Xbox controller with a USB cable end I use in linux. It is recognized as /dev/js0 and it works fine. The only problem I have been having though is that there is no deadzone setting whatsoever, and I have used this pad prior on my Xbox, so the control stick is worn a bit and whenever it wiggles out of place it makes you move in that direction when you are playing a game. This is no problem for games where it checks if you reach the maximum value of the joysticks axes to move, but in games where there is pressure sensitivity like my Playstation games on ePSXe, it is very annoying.

Is there anyway to make a deadzone, perhaps of -2000 to 2000 on both axes? There is no option while calibrating, and I was using the KDE calibration interface. Does GNOME have a better one?

Well, I use KDE, so I have no clue about GNOME. But in KDE, go to settings:/ in konqueror, then click Joystick, then just calibrate the device and you are good to go.
