View Full Version : [all variants] Slow download speeds compared to windows
April 1st, 2010, 01:39 AM
I can only seem to get speeds of 1Mbps when I boot into Kubuntu Lucid, instead of the roughly 7Mbps that my internet connection is supposed to be, and that I get in windows. I don't think it has anything to do with the common IPv6 DNS resolution problem, because AAAA requests seem to fail instantly, and web pages seem to load quickly enough.
Is there some way to fix this?

I really don't know much about internet. I'm more of an intranet type of person.
However, I've been using IPv4 for most of my life, and am happy with it, so I'd recommend trying IPv4 and seeing if it improves.

I'm already using IPv4, I don't think my router is IPv6 capable. I said that because there's a lot of posts about problems in ubuntu's use of IPv6, and broken gateways and stuff, and I think this problem is different. I'm not sure what it's to do with though.
