View Full Version : [ubuntu] Cannot access internet with ubuntu.....

I am new to this and have both windows and ubuntu up right now. I have a desktop but am using a belkin wireless g card to access the internet wirelessly through a belkin wireless router upstairs. I looked at the box and it said nothing about being linux compatible so does that mean i have to buy a new one of sorts or will it still work or is there a certain way around it. Any help would be appreciated.

I should also say this is a wireless usb adapter not an internal card

There's a sticky (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=370108) for supported wireless cards. Some manufacturers don't even acknowledge Linux - so they may/not work. You might list the router model - in case someone has more insight...

Insert the device and then open Applications > Accessories > Terminal and type:
lsusbPost the result and we'll proceed.
