Hii..!
This might sound a strange question but here it goes:-
My mom uses quite a low end computer with 250 MB RAM,100 GB harddisk . The purpose is to only listen to songs, watch some movies, photgraphs etc. It runs with XP and as expected is giving her problems every now and then. There is no internet connection at her house. I was planning to install Xubuntu on her system when I next visit her , but the problem is how will it be updated regularly without an internet connection. Is there any other way to do so!!!!

Thanks
Vivek

Updating Ubuntu without an Internet connection can be a tedious task. The best thing to do is probably to not bother with it. Most updates are security fixes, and mostly irrelevant if the machine is not connected to the Internet.

If an update for some package is really needed, you can download the updated package from http://packages.ubuntu.com, copy it on an USB stick, and install it on another machine by just double-clicking on it..

If you know someone else with xubuntu AND an internet connection(or want to install it on a partition of one of your own computers) this may be of use: http://roshan18.wordpress.com/2007/05/30/ubuntu-without-internet-connection-or-full-package-cddvds/

Try aptoncd . It'll take updates from another system and install it on yours.
