Hi there,

I have a Jaunty/64bits installation which runs nicely but, I was surprised for not finding a GUI app for managing machine name and other aspects of a networked machine. Ubuntu "Help and Support" tells me that I should find it in "Network Settings" which I can't find anywhere. All I find in System - Preferences, Administration or Control Center is a tool for setting up Network Connections (configuring I/F, IP, etc.) and a Network Tools (which gives me access to several information tools such as ping, nslookup, etc.). Nowhere I found the options shown in "Help and Support", as presented in the attached screenshot.
Please, can anyone tell me where to look for? Do I have to install a "Network Settings" tool?
TIA,

Joel Guilherme

Oho! No one can give me an answer? I just want to know if there is or not a GUI (Gnome) "network setings" tool as mentioned in the "Ubuntu Help". If there is, where is it? If not, why is it mentioned in the Help page.
Ok, it's easy to change the host name, it's right there in '/etc/hostname', but it would be nicer to have it integrated with nm. That's what I would expect.
I supposed that someone from the network development team would read these threads and could give me an answer. Is there anywhere else I could better post this query?
Thanks again.

Joel Guilherme

By the way, when I chose the icon for my first post I was not angry, as, surprisingly, I found it translated now. I meant that I was 'crying' (for help). Sorry for misunderstanding the little face with tears rolling down the face.
