I just found out that ubuntu 10.04 was released and I wanted to update to the beta. I just ran the Alt- F2 command and typed in "update-manager-d" (without quotes) to update. A notification popped up saying that there was no such application. After seeing that, I opened the Update manager regularly and it said there was no update for ubuntu. How do I fix this? Thanks.

I think the only thing you did wrong was leave out a space:
update-manager -d

Hi.

it's not broken. If you use 9.10, the 10.04 is still not released. It's only in beta 1.

If you want to get it you'll have to download a copy. Go have a look to the developer forum. There's plenty of information there.

Yes, but there's a way to update to the alpha or beta versions. I was pretty sure that using the -d switch was it. ?
