View Full Version : Found LXDE and I like it on my Netbook

I debated trying Xubuntu, but people have been saying that it isn't much lighter because it uses a lot of the gnome libraries and such. I finally searched for LXDE in Synaptic on a VBox and like it enough to install it on the Netbook. It idles at 100MB less RAM than Ubuntu did. It doesn't have the GUI tweaks that gnome has, but I am guessing that is why it runs lighter.

if you wanted to, you could make it even lighter by doing a command line install and install only what you want.

I am not that good yet. I'd probably have all the wrong stuff trying to work together.
