View Full Version : [ubuntu] mumble on headless?

I run a server (Ubuntu Server 9.10) for various duties - web, ftp, mail, so forth and so on. Recently a friend of mine suggested I run mumble on it, so we all could use it instead of various proprietary solutions such as Skype or Teamspeak.

However, when trying to install mumble-server from the repos, it depends on a buttload of different things - including GUI-type things such as dbus and QT and other things. My server is headless, and I don't want any type of GUI on it - having X running on a server is just so redundant.

So, is there any way of installing mumble without these dependencies, and not compiling it from source or such - or is it simply so that mumble needs a GUI?

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment on the situation.
