Quake 3 Won't install.

It says that I don't have persmission to install it.

Any Ideas?

I used this command to install

sudo sh <filename>.sh

What file are you trying to install?

download the latest point release (google), install that with the command you mentioned, then copy pak0.pk3 from the cd into the baseq3 folder (probably /usr/local/games/quake3/baseq3).

Then download the icculus quake3 build (binaries here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~bruijn9/quake3/breezy/quake3-1.33-r517-i586.tar.gz)

if you use that link, copy the files into the quake3 dir, then run /usr/local/games/quake3/ioquake3.i386

I got the file from the Id web site for linux. Thats the problem, it won't install.

what file are you trying to install? exactly what command are you entering and what are you getting back?
