Best Server OS for Older Computer

I want to have a server that will work well with these specifications:

2.40 GHz Intel Pentium 4
512MB of Dual Channel DDR2 RAM
And I am going to buy a new Hard Drive for it

Any recommendations? I will be installing Wordpress and will probably set up an IRC server and VPN and things like that.

It's ran sweet for the last couple of years at least.

I have Ubuntu Server running on an old P2 @ 450 MHz & it is running beautifully. Granted I have it running w\o the GUI, but it is great.
