For a while, now, there is no way I could make Lucid to power-off at shutdown. several other distributions, including Vista, turn my machine off without a problem... Even shutdown now -P doesn't work...

An old story on my end too:
on a fresh install: shutdown work, restart close the session without stopping system so cant restart.
On my system with 3 OS: jaunty64 (ext3), karmic32 (ext4), lucid 32 (ext4),
they all boot with latest lucid's grub2. Since i've made changes (karmic a2) with grub2, ext4, this shutdown/reboot problem exist. As jaunty64 have the same problem (only restart, shutdown work), i think that it's related to ext4/grub2 relationship, but not sure.
Any idea to trace it ?
