you saw the title. I am an old-school gamer and I am desperate to get warcraft2(BNE) and Command&Conquer:win95 to work. while I am at it, I am in chaos with getting many plugins to fully work or sometimes at all.

I'm pretty sure both of these work just fine with WINE.

If I could get Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2 to work in Wine or Cedega, my wife would change over in a heartbeat.

From the Transgaming Games Database (http://transgaming.org/gamesdb/)
Warcraft II (http://transgaming.org/gamesdb/games/view.mhtml?game_id=2473)
Command & Conquer (http://transgaming.org/gamesdb/games/view.mhtml?game_id=3082)

Hmm. That presents a very curious image of your wife, friend.

Must be the Mistresses (or whatever they were called) in Dungeon Keepr 2. The ones that tortured everyone. That game was great, see how you are, you're making me want to play it!

Last I tried, Dungeon Keeper 2 didn't even work in Windows XP.

Would be great if someone started a GPL version up of Dungeon Keeper 2 or something similar.
Anyone tried Dominus (dos game/win 95) game?

I could get DK2 working somewhat in XP but it crashed a lot. That was the sole reason that I downgraded her system back to 98se.

Actually, she almost likes DK1 better than DK2. She does get the urge some days to slap some imps around after work. Better them than me!:D

On the last day i've managed to have one battlemaster and one mad-cat.

but still, they got me...

If you havn't played you should, underdogs... dosbox does a fine job..

non-BNE Warcraft 2 could presumably still be played with the freecraft engine which is now named "Stratagus" after Blizzard sending them mean legalese, or at least an old version of it.

The original non-Win95 version of C&C might also be pretty easy to run using DOSEMU if wine does not cut it for the Windows-version.

Toasty was what did it for me in that game. Hed walk around pick up animals and eat them alongst while attacking thing goody goodys along the way.

I still have my email msg notification set from the DK2 set , its Toasty saying "New Mail has Arrived!!!".

=)

Ive had also some limited success DOSEMU and DOSbox to play sierra games (Gotta love Liesure suit Larry 1, where you had to ask then 10 questions only a 21yo could answer).

Toasty? We always called him "Horney". And yeah, I had him announcing my email until a year ago when I ditched Windows.

I've got all the MechWarrior games for the PC since #2 (except for the RTS one) and had MW1 for the Commodore64. My wife even went out and bought me a set of rudder pedals and weapon-control system 3 years ago but that's about the time they quit playing MW4 in most of the leagues so I haven't even taken them out of the box. Still shrink-wrapped too.

The worst changes between DK1 and DK2 is that they removed the dragons. It was a pleasure in DK1 to have dragons though they love collecting golds ^^.

Gonna try if to run DK2 in Cedega newest release.

The "RA TechCentre" Has everything you need to know about the Command and Conquer games. Very good tech support.

I already tried to reinstall DK2 with the latest Cedega when they said they had improved support for whatever the name of the copy protection is that DK2 uses. No go.

Isn't there an SGI or whatever it's called engine for Linux?

A long time ago I used to develop games with the LSL-type engine, and I swear there was a Linux version too...

Speaking of old games, I was happy to find that the HOTU release of Lords of the Realm worked in DOSbox, and their release of LORT2 runs fine in Wine.

I might like to sit down and re-play the best Sierra game to ever be released. :)

EDIT:

dana@polly:~$ apt-cache search sierra
agistudio - IDE for creating early Sierra style AGI games
freesci - a portable interpreter for SCI games like Space Quest 3
nagi - game interpreter for Sierra Online (tm) AGI games
photopc - Interface to digital still cameras
sarien - An interpreter for AGI resources

SCI / AGI - I think AGI is the older of the two, which the original LSL used, and some of the others like King's Quest and Police Quest.

In short, you should be able to play LSL and such on Linux natively with one of those, such as "nagi" and the newer ones with "freesci" or "sarien."

AGI Studio is the old app I was referring to originally.
