I have both KDE and Gnome installed. I recently logged in to the KDE desktop; all fine except I run Docky, which wouldn't work without compositing so I shut it down.

When I log back into Gnome, I just get a blank screen. The same happens when I try to log in with Gnome failsafe mode. However, if I log into Gnome as a different user, there's no problem.

Any advice?

Bump.

I have a backup of my home directory. Would copying the older version of .compiz from my backup drive help?

Bump.

I tried removing Compiz, but it made no difference. Logging into Gnome under my own account gives me a brown screen, a mouse and some error messages that flash by too fast to read. Can no one help?
