hi.. i have not recently updated my system or changed any settings... but for some reason my boot screen hangs at the msg....
* starting log deamon

and it wont go past that point....
ive tried a few things but i realy dont have the slightest idea wht to do..

p.s
the UBUNTU boot screen disapears when the '* starting log deamon' msg comes up
and it changes to the basic boot screen.. i.e (no logos or anything,, just txt)
but the msg is still there and its just frozen... please can someone tell me how to fix this...
i have to use the safe mode to get it to do anything..
I've tried to upgrade it in safe mode but it stops when it tries to get the 'threads'...
What do i do?

1.) change your username
2.) change the mentality that goes with your username
3.) good luck

let's not let this get out of hand.

have you tried hitting CTRL+C when the log daemon hangs, and seeing if it will continue to boot?

if you are going to maintain your attitude, no one will help you. linux is not hard. if you use a development TESTING operating system, it's not always going to work... try breezy.

ok.. to put all this straight... he wasnt very nice to me first... and i dont like it when people arnt nice to me for no reason other than to be a tool... (sorry ADMINS) but its the truth...
plus.. i have to use Dapper.. for some reason breezy will not work on my pc... it just doesnt.. and even if it did i wouldnt be able to change it, cos my cd drives dont like booting from CDs an stuff ither..it took a long time to get dapper to work
and i cant be bothered trying to do that again . Basicly this here pc isnt very happy.. IM WORKIN ON IT THOUGH..

anyways.... back to the real world...

nope my main hard drive has about 8gig left free.. and loads on my seacond drive..
i have tried to force continue the boot with Ctrl-C but that wont work.. and someone i know whos prety damn good with linux (and is exeperianced with UBUNTU) didnt have a clue.. so is my pc totaly bust or can i do anythin about it..

p.s Linux is hard as hell (i dont care if your smarter than me)(but it is gettin easier)

any help wiht this would be much apreciated.. thanx
