View Full Version : Can we get rid of highlights from searches?

When I search for stuff and then click on the thread I've found, the URL pops up with &highlight=phrase at the end, and then the words I search for are highlighted wherever they appear in the thread.
Could we not have that be the default behavior? Usually, I'm just trying to find a thread--I don't need to highlight the search terms.
Am I the only one who feels this way?

Sometimes I find it annoying, and sometimes it is useful - especially when the thread is really really long and I want to scroll down really fast.
I usually cut the highlight command out of the adress bar and hit enter to reload the page without highlights.

I usually cut the highlight command out of the adress bar and hit enter to reload the page without highlights. Well, usually I'm searching for stuff because I want to give a link to another thread to someone else (I'm just trying to help)--all they need is the thread, not the highlights.
The fastest way for me to "scroll down" in Firefox is to Control-F and start typing, not to look for highlighted text.

You could always cut the last part out of the link. Highlighting can be convenient, sometimes.

If I'm the only one, then I guess this complaint's not valid.
So everybody else digs the highlighting?

High lighting annoys me as well!
It just gets in the way of the other words.

That's basically what I have been doing myself, at least when I remember to do it. :)
