View Full Version : [ubuntu] timimg out with ssh

hi folks
have good connection between desktop and server via (eth0) using remote desktop viewer, but when trying to connect via ssh connect to server i get
"Timed out when logging in" ????

can you point me in the direction to fix?

...check port 22, a firewall may be blocking it

i have disabled ufw via gufw.

also getting host key verification failed

...well, have you configured your remote desktop under system>preferences?

ok, figured it out!!! for you folks that have the same problems. The contents of the ~/.ssh/known_hosts file. on the client machine needed to be sent to > "null" Then looged back in and the ssh authorization system worked correctly with client.

Yes Mr Shotts, i have read many books since arriving her in the linux
community and still do. YOUR BOOK in my opinion, for me, is the most useful that i have read. (up to date, great examples and great subject flow). I can tell, "you" really enjoy "your" work. I have it in my home directory for continuous reference. I can't tell you "how much" i appreciate it. Folks, this is an example of open source community documentation. This book is a fine example of an individual and individuals who define excellence in giving back to the community.
