I just installed lucid linux and encountered a few problems.

1-the built in mic on my HP dv6 doesn't work with skype. I can plug in an external webcam with mic, and the webcam will work, but the mic will not. I can choose to select either webcam when the external one is in use, but I cannot choose an alternate mic. I suspect that this is a problem with skype because I had the same problem before in 9.10.

2- I plugged my ipod touch into my laptop and it was automatically recognized and showed up in rhythmbox. I was able to play some of the songs in rhythmbox, but not all of them.

3- I tried to drag some songs from my laptop onto my ipod and that is when it hit the fan....I cannot see any songs when i look for music on my ipod. If I look for the songs through rhythmbox, it shows them being there, but when I go to the music player on my ipod it tells me there aren't any songs there and I can buy some from itunes. Also, the drive shows up under places, and I can browse them all. It is a very strange numbering system though....

Maybe stupid idea because you might allready know...
But about the mic: did you also try options in skype preferences -> devices?

This was for me the place to get my mike working. Also switching back and forth (bug in karmic in pulse-prefs) helped me.

Good luck!

Not stupid when someone is asking for computer advice, you never know what they have done, or what they know. I did go into that devices window, and in the drop down menus I don't have any other options besides pulse audio server. Even when I plug my usb webcam in, for the sounds I still only have the pulse option. For video I do get the option of the usb video device when I plug in the camera though.
