Mouse doesn't work in 9.10

I installed xp on this computer after ubuntu, and then after nothing else would work, i went back through the installation without formatting anything in order to restore GRUB. But now whenever I boot Ubuntu, my mouse doesn't respond at all. It still works fine in XP, and it worked fine before i went back through the installation process. How can I fix this?

What type of mouse are you using? Do other mice/mouses work?

I fixed it, it's just a normal PS/2 ball mouse. I used the older version of the linux kernel (.14 instead of .19) and it let me use my mouse. I updated ubuntu using the update manager and it fixed my problems.
