I would be grateful for any help!
I have a G3 (300MHz) Powerbook with 256 MB RAM. I have tried to install the Warthog version of Ubuntu PowerPC which I received in the mail. In fact I have installed from two (No.1 x 2, No.2 x 1) of the three disks that I ordered with EXACTLY the same result each time. Of course by this stage I no longer have Mac OS9 either, so messages or log files are irrelevant!
The set up procedure does well and without trouble until the following line:
Setting up xserver-xfree86 (4.3.0.dfsg.1-6ubuntu25)
Oops: machine check, sig:7[#1]
At which point the machine stops the installation process and switches off.
I wish to stress very clearly that the printing on the disk says "Version 4.10 (PowerPC Edition).
Obviously the help required revolves around why this happens and how to get around the problem.
