kopete (karmic) buddy avatars not on?

OK, another noob question...
I did a google search with various words but didn't turn up anything really relevant. Maybe this is SOOO simple it isn't usually a problem, but here goes:

I am using kopete 0.80.2/KDE 4.3.5 and lost my buddy avatars. This is probably incidental to another issue that I recovered from and found that I had to re-do my account settings.

I looked extensively through all the menus and settings. R-click on a buddy name opens a dialogue that includes photo settings, but that section is inactive- I can't use it.

So can someone please tell me what I need to do to re-enable buddy avatars? I'm sure I'm missing something but at this point I may just be missing it b/c I am so confused!

I have the same problem with Kopete also, using Kubuntu Natty with Kopete 1.0.80. As for now, I have to remove contactlist.xml from kopete directory every time it happens, witch is after a couple of days to a week.

I not sure if it's the meta contacts that causes this, or just a bug in Kopete. Anyway, no solution for the problem yet. This affects both WML and Jabber (Facebook).
