I am having a strange issue with using the terminal. I tried putting in a command, but when it asked for my password, I could not type anything. I hit keys but the characters wouldn't show up and I couldn't put my password in. My keyboard works every other time I use it, so I can't understand why this is happening.

You don`t see your password.

Just type it and hit enter

Well that's the problem. I hit enter after typing the password but it still says I need to enter my password. I don't think my capslock was on...Meh, maybe it was somethign else. I put in a bogus command and put in my password and it seemed to work (at least to accept my password)

Has it suddenly stopped working? Have you done anything you can think of that might have caused this?

Its asking for the root password.
The characters do not show up as a security measure. This is normal.

There is no root password on a default ubuntu install.
