February 11th, 2010, 06:32 AM
I just got my CD in the mail from Ubuntu 9.10 32bit. I did a clean install wiped out the windows OS & I now have Linux on this laptop. The internet works when the cable is plugged into the Ethernet port but when plunged in the built in WiFi will not find or show anything :(

I am having a heck of a time getting my WiFi set up please enjoy the screen shots

So this is what I did

People have gotten the BCM4318 to work in various ways. It is supposed to be supported by b43 and lots of people claim that it works with that. Some say it doesn't and use ndiswrapper. If you use the search box at the top of the page you will see a lot of them for the 4318-many go unanswered. This was one of the successful ones.
