Hi UDSF fans,
If you wish, like me, to search something in the UDSF using a search engine plugin for firefox just paste the line below in your Firefox URL bar.
javascript:window.sidebar.addSearchEngine('http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.src','http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.gif','Ubuntu Document Storage', 'Search');
Thanks to LKRaider for this smooth way to install the plugin.
That's all ;)
You don't know what the Ubuntu Document Storage Facility is ?
Why not visit the site and see by yourself ! : http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/Main_Page

Frodon: Thanks for the guide :)
if u have installed Firefox 1.5 or greater from Automatix, the instructions would be as follow:
wget http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.src
wget http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.gif
sudo mv UDSF.src /opt/firefox/searchplugins/
sudo mv UDSF.gif /opt/firefox/searchplugins/

Sooo...
~ if you upgraded on your own & do _NOT_ use Ubuntu's Firefox Package...
~ if you upgraded on your own _WITHOUT_ Automatix... And _if_ your Firefox was placed in /opt folder, you can still...
wget http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.src
wget http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.gif
sudo mv UDSF.src /opt/firefox/searchplugins/
sudo mv UDSF.gif /opt/firefox/searchplugins/__???__
;)

Great resource!
How about using a javascript link to install? Way easier! :D
Just copy and paste the following code into your Firefox URL bar:
javascript:window.sidebar.addSearchEngine('http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.src','http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.gif','Ubuntu Document Storage', 'Search');

LKRaider - thank you very much. I have been windows free for about a week and my transition would have much better if I had found this sooner. Thanks.

Thank you much. This rocks. Additionally, check this page out (http://gas.tranza.it/2006-ubuntu-search/) for an UbuntuForums search plugin.

Frodon How about our windows brethren? Not that I know anyone who runs Windows XP mind you.... :lol:
Download these two files:
UDSF.src (http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.src)
UDSF.gif (http://frodubuntu.free.fr/ubuntu/UDSF.gif)
On your browser choose "Save as" for the UDSF.gif.
Save them to:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins
Close and re-start Firefox.
dbw: Thanks for the others
